Ana Witkowski / Dr. Bostrom
Week 1: 6/5-6/9
After our orientation meetings earlier this week, I’ve spent most of the week prepping for a CAMEO presentation this weekend for my T32 fellowship program. I have been in NY for the spring semester shadowing Dr. Bostrom to start my own clinical trial, so this presentation was a summary of that and my year’s progress. I got really good feedback from our advisory board and made a couple new potential connections with researchers here at HSS for the summer, I am excited to learn more about their research and how it can connect to mine. Hopefully will learn a couple new dissections while I am here to bring back for the last aim of my thesis.
I have also been practicing with a digigait in a potential collaborator’s lab. A postdoctoral fellow has allowed me to help her set up her rat protocol for her first digigait experiment. It will be directly related to the last aim of my thesis when I get back to Ithaca, so I have been enjoying making those connections here and learning how to best perform the gait analysis! I am looking forward to mouse training next week to be able to do a bit more on my own with training the mice.
I am excited to have a bit more access this summer to other surgeons to see a variety of surgeries, instead of just knee and hip replacements! I am curious about ACL reconstructions and other tendon injuries, so am excited to get the opportunity to shadow other doctors.
