Salman Matan/ Dr. Andreas Gomall Week 1

The first week was exciting. On Monday we had an amazing introduction day, and we get our IDs. I did go to Dr. Gomall's office unfortunately, he was not there but I met his office workers and the physician assistant who works with him. I also finish the required training. On Tuesday, I was able to do clinical with Dr. Gomall, it was eye-opening for me, I learn a lot of new scientific words, watched how he was examining, and how he was easily able to give an answer and calm down his patients. I went full of clinical, and it was one of the best days of my life. On Wednesday, I have a meeting with the biomechanics lab I will be working on during the summer immersion. We discussed the available projects what I can help them with during my time here and other opportunities they have that I can participate. Then we had a welcome meeting with Dr. Robert Min and Dr. Gupta. They talk about their journeys in life and how they end up being here at Weill Cornell Medical School. We had a productive and very interactive conversation that I learned a lot in terms of leading a department someone needs to be prepared and take full opportunities and immerse themselves to get the best out of it.  On Thursday.  I also did a clinic and I really enjoyed following Dr. Gomall seeing his patients and learning that engineers are much needed to be in the field of orthopedics more than ever before. On Friday, I did work in the biomechanics lab with my mentor Amir who teach me how to use Mimics software I was able to learn, and I hope to do more work next week using the software to draw 3D designs of recorded CT scans.
